THE “WAKE ME UP WHEN IT`S OVER” AWARD - FOR THE MOST BORING GAME OF THE SEASON


There have been a few boring games. The first game of the season between Bidvest Wits and Supersport United was only saved by the three goals that somehow managed to be scored by the home team. The fact that it was played in a near empty Ellis Park did not help. It was so boring the media did not stick around for the press conference. It was actually torture to the eyes!

However the award goes to Orlando Pirates versus Santos! We had to until around the 73rd minute for a player to hit the ball towards a goalkeeper.It was a very tame shot at the Santos keeper. I do not recall any other shot at goal. I remember commentators standing up to keep from falling asleep on the mic.

THE “GIVE THAT MAN AN OSCAR” AWARD – FOR THE MOST ANIMATED PLAYER OF THE SEASON

For his half the pitch dash to remonstrate with the referee, Itumeleng Khune wins this hands down. Add in his time wasting antics and of course his infamous roll arounds when he had barely been touched then there is simply no competition for the shot stopper!

THE “WHAT THE ….” AWARD

Teko Modise managed to drag a whole horde of journalists from Mayfair to Chloorkop when he was in fact supposed to be facing the music in a disciplinary hearing! Then Katlego Mpela decided to be like a soldier and go AWOL! So the two overpaid egomaniacs get the award.
